Xena OnyxScan Drone LiDAR

OnyxScan Lidar UAV 1250 - Xena OnyxScan Drone LiDAR

Compact, powerful and integrated

OnyxScan UAV Embedded Lidar 300x200 - Xena OnyxScan Drone LiDAR

Both compact and powerful, the XENA is the result of OnyxStar latest UAV developments.

One of the most interesting features of the XENA is its frame made of high quality carbon for its toughness and lightness. In addition to that, XENA’s booms and propellers are foldable, making transport and storage easier.

As a coaxial octorotor (8 motors), XENA is a strong drone capable of flying safely and efficiently even in windy situations.

Thanks to its 8 motors, this drone is powerful and redundant. In other words, this means that in case of motor or propeller failure, the XENA is able to continue flying and land safely.

Equipped with cutting-edge flight electronics, XENA is a precise, reliable and efficient UAV. Geofencing, waypoint navigation, failsafe and automatic navigation calculation are among the countless features of this European-made solution is capable of.

Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) is a surveying technology allowing to generate accurate Digital Terrain Models (DTM) for applications in multiple industries.

Xena with the OnyxScan LiDAR is the perfect combination of an unmanned flying platform embedding a laser scanner ready to launch. This turnkey aerial LiDAR solution is actually fully integrated.

Used in:

  • geomatics
  • geodesy
  • archaeology
  • mining and quarrying

  • and many other areas...

Automatic navigation surveys

Survey Navigation Grid Lidar 1 sm - Xena OnyxScan Drone LiDAR

Preparing an automated survey flight is easy and straightforward, thanks to Xena’s navigation planning software.

Waypoints can be added, edited, removed or generated automatically after having keyed in a few parameters.

Multiple navigation files can be stored on your computer in order to be reused later, or to serve as templates for new surveys.

The ground control software allows you to follow the flight during missions and to monitor the aircraft during programmed operations. Several useful information like the battery level, the speed, the height, the number of waypoints to go and the processed ones are monitored in real time.

The position of the drone is also reported on a map, so the operator can continuously follow the navigation.

No flight restrictions

XENA’s flight electronics do not impose flight restrictions, nor store or transfer user’s flight details or sensing data to any foreign server. All your data remain undisclosed.

This is very important for the user to freely operate while keeping sensitive data confidential.

In case of need, several geofencing possibilities can of course be activated by the operator, in order to let him delimit the flight zone at will.

Advantages

  • Light and compact droneonly 5,6Kgs in total (Drone, LiDAR and battery - ready to takeoff).
Using a light LiDAR UAV system is very important because:
    • System handling is easier: it is absolutely realistic to perform LiDAR surveys with our system involving only one operator.
    • Batteries are smaller, lighter and faster to charge, their management is easier (charging, storage, transportation and of course cost).

  • Eight motors: for power and redundancy.
  • Versatile and cost effective: the Xena OnyxScan can carry other payloads than our LiDAR. It is indeed possible to equip this aircraft with an RGB camera, a thermal camera or any other sensor having a mass adapted to the specifications of the UAV. Changing from one sensor to the other is easy and simple. This makes of it a really cost effective solution.
  • Foldable: for easy transportation, by car, train, airplane etc.
  • Integrated: the LiDAR sensor is perfectly integrated to the aircraft, making your drone LiDAR survey straightforward. Thanks to this integration, there is no separate equipment to handle, charge, configure, program or assemble.
  • Automatic: fully automated flights, from take off to landing by switching just one button, are easily programmed to make the drone LiDAR sensing as effortless and fast as possible.
  • No flight restrictions: the only person that decides if the flight can take place or not is the UAV operator, depending on the airspace, the area to fly over, the involved legislation and the pilot's limitations.
  • Confidentiality of the data: no flight information nor sensing data or pictures are transmitted to anyone. The UAV operator remains the only master of all this information.
  • European approval: the Xena OnyxScan is approved by European Civil Aviation Authorities for scenarios S1, S2 and S3 in France and Class 1a operations in Belgium.
